INTRODUCTION TO COLLEGE CHEMISTRY
Are you about to take your first college chemistry course? Would you like a confidence boost as you go into General Chemistry? As a PhD chemist with over 20 years of classroom experience, I am excited to teach you! In this workshop, we will review key high-school topics that are the foundation for college chemistry. Our focus will be on mathematical problem-solving, the language of chemistry, and test-taking skills. We will meet one hour a week for six weeks, online over Zoom, from mid June to the end of July 2025. Specific dates and times will be determined by the group. Are you planning to go into medicine or a health-related field? Have you heard scary stories about organic chemistry, and would you like to make sure you succeed? If so, and if you have passed high-school Advanced Placement (AP) Chemistry or college-level General Chemistry, this course is for you! It will be a fun, interactive experience that will prepare you for a college-level organic chemistry course. As a PhD organic chemist with over 20 years of classroom experience, I am excited to teach you! With a small class size (5-10 students), you will have plenty of opportunities to work with me and with other students. Expect to spend 20-30 minutes studying each night, and plan to complete short assessments. You need reliable Internet, and you will be turning on your computer camera and microphone during class. We will meet for six weeks, online over Zoom, on Tues, Wed, Thurs from 4:30pm to 6:30pm Pacific Time from June 17 through July 24, 2025.
